If someone had told me ten years ago I'd be learning AI, creating videos and building a website, I would never have believed them.
At the time, I had a stable corporate job. I believed I would work there until retirement.
Life had other plans.
When I lost my job after more than 40 years in the corporate world, I realised something important.
The world had changed.
The skills that employers wanted were changing too.
For a while, I felt overwhelmed. I wondered if I had missed my chance.
Maybe you've felt that way too.
The good news is this.
You haven't missed your chance.
Many people believe technology is only for younger generations.
I don't believe that's true.
Learning isn't about your age.
It's about your willingness to keep growing.
Whether you're 35, 55 or 65, every new skill you learn adds to your confidence.
Every small step makes the next one easier.
There are thousands of courses available online.
The challenge isn't finding information.
The challenge is knowing where to begin.
That's why I believe in learning practical skills you can actually use.
Skills like:
Understanding digital marketing
Creating simple social media content
Using AI to save time
Building confidence with technology
Learning step by step without feeling overwhelmed
You don't need to know everything.
You just need to keep learning.
One lesson.
One article.
One new tool.
One new skill.
Those small actions add up over time.
Looking back, I realise I didn't need to know
everything before I started.
I simply needed to begin.
No one knows exactly what the future will look like.
But one thing is certain.
People who continue learning will always have
more options.
Learning new skills isn't only about work.
It's about confidence.
It's about adapting.
It's about believing that your best years of learning aren't behind you.
If you've been thinking about learning digital skills but aren't sure where to begin, remember this.
You don't need to learn everything today.
Just take the first step.
One lesson.
One skill.
One day at a time.
You might be surprised where it leads.
